![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:00 |
|
Haha, from what I understand the basic block design is based on the duratec V6. The heads were designed and made by Cosworth though.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:00 |

The belts look like a PITA to service on that V12 and it’s not even in a car!
![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:02 |
|
Not too bad. Volvo 3.2 is pure hell when it’s time to do the serpentine belt
![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:03 |
|
Not from what i’ve seen here at my job.... who knows
![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:18 |
|
Lol, hell yes. I mean, there’s probably little remaining from the original engines at this point, but it’s totally two Duratecs.

![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:29 |

This annoys me, because even my E46 is what I would call “easy” belt replacement. Having done it a few times now, it’s a 15 minute job for me.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:35 |
|
Bimmer have super easy belts for sure. The one on my Z4 is cake!
![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:36 |
|
I was close to right on one!
![]() 07/07/2016 at 13:47 |

Just shocking. When VW discontinued the W8, one of the most complex 8-bangers in modern history, they sold them off at $4,000 in a crate. Several V6 and 1.8t owners snatched them up for investments and/or engine swaps. But even then, I think they were only about $8k new.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 14:01 |
|
Oh wow didn’t know that. The guy in the Rapide drove in high water. Each front seat is a little over $20,000 FYI. Insane money on these goofy cars
![]() 07/07/2016 at 14:57 |
|
Well, considering the purchase prices of my 945 and my V90, I could buy somewhere between 11 and 30 turbo bricks for the price of that V8.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 15:00 |
|
yes!!! Do that instead! :]
![]() 07/07/2016 at 17:19 |
|
Dayum!
If you add the price of those two engines, you could buy my truck brand new, my wife's CX-5 brand new, and you would still have enough left over to buy my beater Roadmaster.
![]() 07/08/2016 at 08:44 |

What engine does the Z4 have? Is it the M54 or N-series? Either way the manual versions are super-easy because of the extra space that would otherwise be occupied with the transmission cooler and pulley-mounted fan.
![]() 07/08/2016 at 09:14 |
|
M54 auto. I had a 95 3 liter heater M3 and that thing was super cake to work on
